About Our Program & Adoption Process
As much as we would love to place a puppy with everyone, the reality is that the popularity of Cavaliers surpasses our current availability.
We only have one litter a year, and we understand how hard it is to wait for your beloved companion. Please read below for answers to frequently asked questions.
How long is your waitlist and how do I get on it?
The only way to get on our waitlist is to fill out our puppy application. It helps us get to know your family and lifestyle so we can place the right puppy with you, and also ensure our dogs will live a happy and fulfilling life. Our dogs are our family, and we seek families who can replicate this experience.
Our waitlist is 2-3 years. Please note we do not take deposits until the puppies are born and have had their first check-ups at week 4.
We recommend getting on as many lists as you can, as you will see that most quality breeders have the same timeline. Try the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club to check for certified breeders in your area. If you simply cannot wait for your precious Cavalier, we also recommend joining Facebook groups for Cavalier owners and AKC breeders to see if there are any available pups. We can always refer you to our trusted breeder friends, but we cannot vouch for most breeders.
***If you are on our waitlist and have adopted another puppy, we ask that you kindly let us know. If you are on our waitlist, we ask that you check in from time to time. This helps us know that you are serious about adopting from us. We always appreciate potential parents checking our Facebook and Instagram pages, so we can get to know you more!***

What is the price of your puppies?
Quality, healthy Cavalier puppies range from $4,000-$5,500+ depending on how close they are to the breed standard and regional area. We take a lot of pride in the care and attention we dedicate to our puppies, spanning from the meticulous planning of the litters to the stages of conception, birth, and puppyhood. While it may not be an effortless task, the joy we experience in bringing these darling dogs into the world and the happiness they bring to us makes it all worthwhile.
You will find in your research that most quality breeders have the same price point. When you adopt from us, please remember that you are now part of our family and we will always be here for you and your pup! If you are in the area, we love to see our puppies at cavalier events or puppy parties. We love all of our dogs dearly, so it’s hard to let them go, and it means a lot to us to receive pictures and updates.
What kind of health testing do you do for the parents?
All of our dams are OFA certified for hips, eyes, and hearts. All parents are free of eye disease, dry eye/ curly coat, congenital / adult onset heart disease, patellar luxation, hip dysplasia episodic falling, and SM. We only breed one dam a year and we do not have studs in our home. We collaborate with reputable breeders in the region to source champion studs. These breeders share our commitment to thorough health testing and adhere to the same high standards of ethical and responsible breeding, exemplified by partners like Mile High Cavaliers.
We strongly advise conducting thorough research on the breed to determine if a Cavalier is the right fit for you. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, being a purebred, inherits its traits from a carefully bred lineage with a common gene pool. Recognizing the role of genetics in the breed, our responsibility as breeders is to ensure thorough testing and clearance of genetic issues in our dams and sires. It's essential to understand that, despite our best efforts, no reputable breeder can guarantee a lifelong assurance of health. Our primary objective is to contribute to the world by bringing forth the healthiest and most well-tempered Cavaliers, exemplifying the breed's standards, and enhancing your lives with one of these affectionate and loyal companions.

When will I receive my puppy?
The first month is crucial to a puppy’s development and health. Once the litter is born, all of our efforts are focused on making sure the puppies are healthy and growing properly.
We will reach out to you when the puppies are four weeks old, only after they have had their first veterinary check-up. We will let you know that we have a puppy available to you.
From weeks 4-6, we will watch closely as the puppies develop and start to show their personalities and features. This is the time we will decide how close the puppies are to breed standard. We take into consideration the sex, color, and goals you are looking for in your in your Cavalier. Ultimately, we will place the proper puppy with you.
From weeks 7-8, we will schedule a meeting at our home so you can see your puppy and their mother. This visit is also for you to get to know our family and see the home they were raised in. Please note we do not have home visits until the puppies are born and at a stable age. Only after you meet your puppy will we take a deposit.
Puppies go to their forever homes at 12 weeks of age. They come with their first round of vaccinations. Puppies also come with AKC limited registration and AKC pedigree. Payment is due at pick up and we will sign a contract.
Do you have older dogs available?
We do not keep puppies past 15 weeks of age. If we hear of an older Cavalier who is looking for their forever home, we will post about them on our Facebook page. In your puppy inquiry, it is helpful to know if an older dog is something you are interested in.

Do you have any show dogs or puppies available for breeding?
No, we only offer limited registrations of our puppies in order to protect the breed.
Every litter has a mix of dogs that are show quality or pet quality.

In the contract, we have a clause that you will agree to neuter or spay the dog when they are AT LEAST 1 year of age. We believe in science, and research has shown that puppies who have developed fully have significantly lower health risks.
